Class Structures

The Mushin Kendo Dojo welcomes all who wish to learn and practice the art of Kendo, to join in and become a part of our Kendo family.

Classes at Mushin are broken up into three groups:

BEGINNER

These classes are for all who wish to begin their training in the Ways of Kendo. Classes cover the essential basics of Kendo, such as footwork, stances, basic cuts and the various whys and wherefores surrounding aspects of the way and the dojo. Classes are an hour, however, new members are encouraged to remain and watch the senior class as it will aid in their long-term learning experience.

INTERMEDIATE

These classes are for those who have a grasp of the basics of Kendo and have recently entered into training with Bogu (Armour). Classes cover slightly more advanced techniques as well as aim to emphasise basics, like those mentioned above, in a more demanding practice environment. Classes are an hour and intermediate Kendoka (Kendo practitioner) are also encouraged to either participate in or watch the advanced class.

ADVANCED

These classes are for those that have attained a sufficient degree of proficiency over the basics, intermediate and slightly more advanced techniques as well as certain philosophical aspects of The Way of the Sword.
